S.T.I.C., Students Tutoring In Church Training Sept. 21 5:30 p.m.
S.T.I.C. is a joint event sponsored by the Sheffield City School System and area churches, and the brain-child of Superintendent Keith Lankford. Keith has used this system when he was a principal and saw the results were positive. Last school year we did it for the first time here and the results were amazing.
The program is now being expanding to include both school semesters. We are issuing the call for volunteers. You do not need a college degree, simply a love to see our kids become all they can be, and reading is crucial! We need volunteers to drive the van to pick up kids or you can sit around the table with these wonderful kids to help them become better students, or you can do both. All it takes is your commitment or 1 or 2 days a week or every other week.
The Volunteer Requirements are:
· Must have a background check
· Commit to at least 1 day a week, or even every other week. (This is a “right-after-school” event that will last for 1 hour on days to be determined)
· Attend the S.T.I.C. training, Thursday, September 21 at 5:30 pm. The Training will be in our fellowship hall
Contact us or the Sheffield School System Central office if you have questions or need more information. We are excited to partner with our local elementary schools in this event! And if you sign up, we believe you will, too! At Sheffield First, we believe in and are committed to making our communities stronger and thus, better!
